God confounds the wisdom of the wise

And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years. And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve Me in this place (Acts 7:6-7).

God prophesied to Abram the evil oppression and enslavement of Israel that they would suffer at the hands of Egypt for 400 years. We know that 40 is the number of trial and proving, a further 0 is the intensity of that trial and proving. The fulfilment of that time is also prophesied and it will be a time of judgement upon Egypt. God raised up Moses. There is clear evidence throughout the scripture that ‘God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty’ (1 Corinthians 1:27). David was a poor shepherd boy the last in line but God made him a great king but there is one greater, the King of all kings, our Lord Jesus, who will not just unite Israel but reconcile the whole of creation back to God. The hand of God was upon Moses before he was born into this world. He was a foundling raised in the palaces of Egypt, but God ordained and anointed him to lead Israel and be God’s spokesman against Pharaoh and the Law that would keep them until Jesus, their Messiah, was revealed. He had a stutter but God overcame that and Moses’ lack of self worth that had caused it. See, God needed a humble man of compassion that would know his strength and power did not lie in himself, but only as he was obedient to God would their deliverance be fulfilled. It is the same today. God will not give His glory to another, we have to know the love of God and the privilege that we live in as we are repeatedly immersed in His mighty Holy Spirit, the love and power of God, changed Into Christ’s likeness as we walk in the Spirit obedient o God’s command because of our intense love for Him. ‘O what sweet communion, O what blessed union, I am His and He is mine’. Jesus is our Friend as He was Moses’ Friend if we seek Him and seek that deep and loving relationship that God has reserved for all that truly put their loving trust in Him, so we can speak face to face with Him.
