Arise, shine your light has come

And He gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs. And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him, And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house (Acts 7:8-10).

Joseph is a type and shadow of Jesus, who identified Himself to the chief priests and the elders and laid bare their evil plans through the parable of the vineyard owner quoting Psalm 118:22 to them: ‘the Stone which the builders rejected has become the Head of the Corner’ (Mark 12:10). God had put a hedge around Israel and yet they betrayed the King of Glory because of their envy and pride. But as with Joseph their schemes only worked for good, our Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ suffered the death of the cross to be raised in victory in the resurrection and to raise all those that call on His name into His victory, raised from death to life. Thank you Jesus. And so God gave Abram his spiritual name, that which God had made him, Abraham: Father of many Nations. Isaac was born to Sarah, mother of many nations, and the covenant that God made with Isaac was an everlasting covenant, made before he was conceived. Indeed kings did come out of Sarah as God promised, descendants of Abraham and Isaac, even the King of kings was brought forth. So God turned evil for good, as He does even now. I tell you it is necessary that we be humble and keep humble for this great treasure is kept in an earthen vessel that the glory should not be ours but God’s who is the author of our salvation. God, who has taken us from the miry clay and given us a name, made us a chosen generation, a royal priesthood an holy nation, a peculiar people (God’s purchased possession) that we should glorify Jesus and glorify His name. All who call upon His name are called sons of God, now are we sons of God, as John declares in his first letter. So many are waiting for God to do something but He has already done it through Jesus, enter in: Isaiah 60:1: ‘Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee’.
