Then said the high priest, Are these things so? And he said, men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; the God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran, And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee (Acts 7:1-3).
Stephen does not answer the false accusations, for how could he speak of that which did not exist? To deny it would give it a place in reality, to consider any of the false accusations would be to join with their deception. This is the wisdom of God that Stephen should not speak of falsehood but of truth. He took them to the lineage, the birthright, of Israel and their possession of the land God has given to every true born son of Abraham, even until today. The rulers and council of Israel were in their place of authority because of the grace of God, and their deceit, to fulfil the will of God. Salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ, our eternal Redeemer, had been released into all creation. Thank you Jesus. Their walk was a walk of cunning, but Abraham’s walk was the walk of faith. God told Abram to go and Abram went. He did not debate it or delay he picked up his tent and went. See, God did not give him the final destination, God’s first instruction was to up sticks and go, so he went. God guided him, he put one foot in front of the other not knowing where God’s command would lead him, but fully trusting in God. The just shall live in faith. If God said it, He will not lead us astray, His word is truth, it is an oath sworn on Himself for there is none greater than our Lord God YHWH, the Lord God Jehovah, the living God, the maker of covenants that bring us into a close and personal relationship with Jesus. God has set us on the walk of faith to come into all that God has promised us, it is the word of God, the prophecies of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Joel and the rest are being fulfilled right before our eyes. This generation will not pass away until all is unveiled and we meet Jesus in the air, as He calls His saints to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Make your calling and election sure. Matthew 22:11-14.
