Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that His hour was come that He should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved His own which were in the world, He loved them unto the end. And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him; Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He was come from God, and went to God (John 13:1-3).
And so we enter into the final hours, the evening before Jesus’ crucifixion, Thursday afternoon, the Jewish day ends at 6pm. The Passover Lamb will be sacrificed tomorrow, His precious blood shed, death and the sting of death which is sin will be dealt with. The Law of Moses covered sin, the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus deals with sin in all who come to Jesus and allow Him to do business with them. He speaks truth into us and as we walk in faith in Jesus, who is the truth, that freedom becomes our reality. When we accept Jesus as our Saviour, through His blood Jesus brings us into the righteousness of God and finally frees us from the deceits of satan as we walk in the power of the Holy Spirit and the promises of God. Jesus loves us to the end too, not just to the cross, but into eternity. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 13 that faith, hope (expectation, Mark 11:22-26) and love will always remain with us and the greatest is love. God is love. The final parts have been put in place. The son of perdition has been surrendered to satan for Christ’s betrayal. Jesus knows not only that His hour has come but what He was about to suffer for us. Greater love has no man than that He lay down His life for His friends, thank You Jesus. We have not yet resisted unto blood. Some will, some have, but we can be sure of one thing that we are loved and if we faithfully follow Jesus, hand in hand with Him, whatever happens our name is engraved on the palms of the Father’s hands. We cannot go back, there is nothing to go back to: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live in the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me (Galatians 2:20). John 6:66-71.
