All I ask is to be like Jesus

Yet a little while, and the world seeth Me no more; but ye see Me: because I live, ye shall live also. At that day ye shall know that I am in My Father, and ye in Me, and I in you. He that hath My commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Me: and he that loveth Me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him (John 14:19-21).

Jesus is telling His disciples that their relationship with Him is about to change. He will no longer be with them in His flesh but will be with them in the Spirit. And then there is the promise of the resurrection. See, Jesus is the resurrection and the life and we live in Him, so we are born again of the Spirit of Christ, the resurrection and the life. We are no longer of the flesh but of the Spirit, that means we have to come to the revelation that we are not a body with a spirit in it, but a spirit with a body round it and the Person who has made our Spirit, their Holy of Holies, our King on our throne, is Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Jesus then goes on to describe how it happens and what the result is. Carefully consider this. The ultimate love is absolute trust, trusting Jesus to take full control of our life and having His peace within us to know that everything works together for our good because of the love bond between us, so we are obedient to God’s Word: the Spirit of Christ in us and the Word the Holy Spirit speaks into us. It is all based on the strength of our loving trust in Jesus. Now lets just go back to the declaration of our Father concerning Jesus at the start of His ministry: ‘And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased’ (Matthew 3:17); and again when Jesus revealed His spiritual reality as He was transfigured before Peter, James and John:’While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him’ (Matthew 17:5). The Father backed Jesus up because He was obedient to what His Father said and Father, Son and Holy Spirit will back us up if we are obedient to His word. Jesus, the resurrection and the life, the Risen Christ, will be revealed in us if we are obedient to Him. See, Jesus is the Truth, if we speak the Truth of the gospel, and not some sham gospel that lets us live as we like, Jesus will be with us and the Father and the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Father, is right there with us. It is the same Holy Spirit that lives in us that lived in Jesus. In being obedient to the voice of the Holy Spirit, we are being obedient to Jesus because the Holy Spirit speaks what He hears Jesus say and Jesus speaks our Father’s will. So the Father is pleased with us too, we are His beloved sons too. Jesus is being manifest in us as we put our absolute loving trust in Him and we are obedient to that which He tells us to do and say. Go back to John 14:10-14 and prayerfully consider what Jesus told His disciples then and what He is telling them now. I and my Father are One.
