Who wants more of Jesus?

And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word (Acts 6:1-4).

Did you notice that? ’The number of the disciples ‘multiplied’ it was not just addition, one added to another, it was multiplication: a multitude is a number that cannot be counted, Jesus multiplied that multitude with many more. That is revival, we should not be surprised, that is Church. If we get that firmly fixed in us it will expand our faith to expect more, then when we ask God He will give us our expectation (Mark 11:24). This is the appointment of the first deacons. They were not chosen because of their organisational or administrative skills but because they were full of the Holy Spirit and were known for their Godly wisdom. God through Jesus and the Holy Spirit would continue to guide the deacons as He guided the Apostles, therefore the work of God toward the people would not suffer. What is equally important was that the Apostles would not be deflected from their ministry and the ministry would be even more effective as they waited upon God in prayer and study of the scripture. It is what all leaders need to do, trust God and appoint Holy Spirit led men and women and delegate to them jobs of importance as the Holy Spirit leads. But those appointed must take hold of what God has given them, it is His ministry. It promotes growth as everyone matures in the Spirit. We rely on the power of God, more prayer, more study just increases the power and presence of God in the ministry and that flows out into every area for which God has given us responsibility. It just lifts the Church into the higher realms of the Spirit: more saved, more healed, more delivered. God is not an adder, He is a multiplier, let Him multiply His love and power, His presence in you. Who wants more of Jesus? Step up and give Jesus more of you.  Matthew 5:6, they SHALL be filled.
